UPDATE TIME!!

So, what have I been up too. Well Christmas happened. I spend that with James' lovely family! But I don't have any photos of that right now. It was awesome by the way! So was New Years!  We were at the observatory in Sydney all day waiting for the fireworks and it was sooo worth it. Absolutely breathtaking! Hope I get to do it again with my family next year.
I also survived a 41 degrees day. We don't have air con in our house, so it was just as hot inside as outside. One of the most horrible experiences in my life!

I have been looking for something to do at home, because I'm not getting a lot of shifts at work right now. So I'm really bored. And last night I came across this:

Now, this is meant for a baby girl. But I think it would make a really cool everyday quilt. Now, I got a gift card to spotlight for Christmas so I went there today to get the fabrics I needed.
Now you can't really see their true colors here. They are a bit more rich in the color in real life. I think this quilt is gonna be awesome! Now, she didn't really put up a tutorial on how to make it. Just a template for the triangles. So I'm going to have to make it up as I go a long. But I will put it on the blog so you can make one yourself.

STRING ART

So, i have been working on this project for awhile and i'm finally done!
The photo is not that good, it looks much better in real life!
So, if you wont to make something similar, this is how you do it:
Materials:
  • 1 large cork board
  • A good covering white paint
  • 1 foam brush (so you don't get streaks in the paint)
  • 1 big bundle of yarn. I choose one that automatically changes color, which I think work very well. Then you don't have to stop and change color all the time. It all depends on what look you are going for.
  • 2 boxes of gold pins. The ones I got ones a mix between a needle and a nail. And not to long.
Step 1: Paint the cork board. Now I had to give mine 3 coats because my paint was thin. Doesn't really matter.
Step 2: Find the font and size that fits your piece and print it out. Don't cut the letters out. It's easier to place and see the right distance if you don't cut them out.
Step 3: Line the border of your letters with the nails. Don't place them more than max. 1,5 cm apart. And place them close when your are doing round parts.
Step 4: Carefully rip the paper out from under the nails. CAREFULLY! It is possible.
Step 5: Tie the string to the top corner of your first letter and start filling out. I chose to use a lot of string and fill our the space a lot. It all depends on what look you are going for. Tie the rope to the last nail on the last letter.

Now if you want to make corners you will have to hand draw them on some paper. To make them the same, I did one corner, ripped out the paper and turn it around. I could then use it for the other corner.

This is a really fun project. And you dont have to make one as big as mine. I have seen some really nice ones where it just said love or hope. Even some made on a piece of wood from the beach. I might do that next.

Also, my husband just cut my hair and it looks awesome! Good job by some one who doesn't have any hair himself.

Halloweeeeeeen!!!

So, i'm a bit behind here. I have been to busy with my new job and all my diy projects. I will post some photos of what I have been making tomorrow! I was told that Halloween wasn't very big in Australia so I didn't expect much. Since I love dressing up and candy I decided we were going to decorate the front of the house a bit hoping that some trick or treaters might come by. And they did!!!! It was crazy. We had at least 50 kids coming by and we had to buy more candy twice! IT WAS AWESOME!!!! So here follows some photos of my Halloween adventure!

Now, it doesn't look very scary, but it was!!! We made the ghost ourselves!

This is how I welcomed our guest, MUHAHAHAHAHA!!!

It's now time for me to make some Christmas cards. You save sooo much making them yourself. I wont post photos of them until later. I want it to be a surprise for the receivers!
